(J Harris: When you look at daily cases in the paper, it appears that LGV and TYLER have many more cases than does Marshall. However, when corrected for population, all three cities have about the same percentage of sick people. We are not over the hump and are doing no better than Longview or Tyler)

TEXAS TRIBUNE SIMPLE MAPS AND STATS EASY TO FOLLOW COUNTIES (SEE ABOVE)
Harrison, Gregg, and Smith all about the same at about 7.5 Covid cases per 1000 population in the respective counties.

Current Rt:  1.04
Effective Reproduction Rate · Rt
Rt is the average number of people who become infected by one infectious person. If it’s above 1.0, COVID-19 will spread quickly. If it’s below 1.0, infections will slow. THIS IS THE BEST OUR AREA Rt has been in several weeks. GOOD. WEAR YOUR MASKS—it’s helping.

And finally for our New York friends who seem to enjoy Texans:
We are 140 days into self-isolation, and it is really upsetting me to witness my wife standing at the living room window, gazing aimlessly into space with tears running down her cheeks. It breaks my heart to see her like this. I have thought very hard about how I can cheer her up. I have even considered letting her in …. but rules are rules.
