CORONAVIRUS INFO PROVIDED BY DR. JIM HARRIS – 6/4/2020

June 4, 2020

Web Site: Diane Jones just sent me this. I hadn’t seen this site. It looks great. It is a fabulous compilation of data for Texas from multiple sites. It will take a day to study it. It might be a few days behind certain sites but looks like a GREAT site. I don’t know this organization, but this site looks to be a good time saver. If you have comments about this or anything else, please send it along. I’m not real good with numbers. J. Harris

TEXAS COVID-19 DATA RESOURCE

The Department of State Health Services notified Harthis rison County on Wednesday of three new positive COVID-19 cases and 12 more recoveries.

“We are still waiting on the testing information from the nursing home,” County Judge Chad Sims advised in his daily 4 p.m. update on his Harrison County Judge Facebook page.

Of the 256 total of positive cases for the county, 25 have resulted in deaths, and 97 are recoveries, for a current total of 134 active cases.

Judge Sims said Friday will be the last day for visitors to the courthouse and other county offices to be required to wear a face mask.

I PLAN TO WEAR MY MASK UNTIL BOTH THE LONE RANGER AND ZORRO TELL ME NOT TO  — OR WHEN THE TEXAS DISEASE RATES GO WAY DOWN.

J. Harris: This is a long article written by several experienced and excellent writers (who have previously won the prestigious awards). It chronologically follows COVID 19 as it spreads throughout the U.S. and evaluates where the CDC and its leadership went wrong (and right). It’s not complicated reading scientifically, and details how poorly the once-proud agency fared and why. The CDC was once the jewel of public health, governmental medicine, and the one agency that working doctors trusted the most. Hell, who can you trust, or whom?      (Yourself)

From Johns Hopkins: Texas is also exhibiting a steady increase in COVID-19 incidence, reporting 3 of its 4 highest daily totals over the past 6 days as well as its highest 7-day average.

Vaccines: SARS-CoV-2 VACCINE The development, production, and distribution of SARS-CoV-2 remains a global priority in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Multiple vaccines are currently in various stages of development, and there is “cautious optimism” that some will be determined to be safe and effective. Notably, Dr. Anthony Fauci commented that the manufacturers of promising candidates are already preparing for subsequent clinical trial phases based on preliminary results. This will enable Phase 2 and 3 trials to commence sooner, which could potentially accelerate vaccine availability. The vaccine candidate developed by Moderna is completing Phase 1 clinical trials, and Phase 3 is scheduled to begin in July. Several other candidates, including from AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson, may have advanced stage clinical trials this summer as well. These trials could potentially yield results by this fall. Dr. Fauci noted, however, that a vaccine may not confer long-term immunity, if SARS-CoV-2 behaves like other coronaviruses. This could translate into needing multiple doses of the vaccine or periodic boosters to ensure lasting immunity.

TRACKING: With 10,000 plus new cases daily in the U.S. the only way to track new cases will be done by local folks, locally. J. Harris

I agree with this article and find that the tips work. I do not know the writer. J. Harris
