Efficacy of COVID-19 shots in front-line workers tumbled with delta’s spread in CDC study
SOME INFORMATION ABOUT LAMBDA VARIANT:
The Lambda Variant: What You Should Know [A MONTH OLD ARTICLE]
”…Lambda spread until it became a dominant sequence in people with COVID-19 in Peru. The WHO noted last month an elevated presence of lambda in other South American countries, including Argentina, Chile and Ecuador…The lambda variant carries a number of mutations with suspected implications, such as potential increased transmissibility or possible increased resistance to neutralizing antibodies, the WHO says…[However}…while there hasn’t been clear head-to-head data, the evidence so far does not suggest the lambda variant has any great advantage over the delta variant…Lambda spread until it became a dominant sequence in people with COVID-19 in Peru. The WHO noted last month an elevated presence of lambda in other South American countries, including Argentina, Chile and Ecuador….Delta is clearly dominating right now. And so I think our focus can remain on delta as a hallmark of a highly infectious variant…”
NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE ON LAMDA VARIANT (Short recent summary reports)
The Lambda COVID Variant: What WHO, CDC Have Said
”…The Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) told Newsweek that while the variant has been detected in the U.S., the proportion of Lambda cases is very low, with only 0.17 percent of variant cases being Lambda…There are currently more than 1,300 Lambda (C.37) sequences in the US as of August 4, 2021, and the Lambda variant has been identified in 44 states,” a CDC spokesperson said.
A Doomsday COVID Variant Worse Than Delta and Lambda May Be Coming, Scientists Say
”…It may seem surprising that scientists were caught off-guard by the rapid emergence of a more dangerous variant. But unlike most other pathogens, … SARS-CoV-2 was largely unknown when it emerged. In the absence of data, scientists assumed it would follow other viruses in being relatively slow to spin off much more contagious mutations. Even more important,… scientists underestimated the sheer scale the pandemic would eventually achieve—a critical factor, because the more people a virus infects, the more opportunities it has to develop significant mutations. “Having billions of people infected presents a breeding ground for variants unlike anything we’ve ever seen with these sorts of viruses…”

1. NIH Study Shows No Significant Benefit of Convalescent Plasma for COVID-19 Outpatients with Early Symptoms (NIH) The final results of the Clinical Trial of COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma in Outpatients (C3PO) demonstrate that COVID-19 convalescent plasma did not prevent disease progression in a high-risk group of outpatients with COVID-19, when administered within the first week of their symptoms. The trial was stopped in February 2021 due to lack of efficacy based on a planned interim analysis…”
2. Mississippi Is Pleading With People To Stop Using A Livestock Drug To Treat COVID-19 (NPR) Mississippi health officials are pleading with residents not to take a medicine meant for cows and horses as an alternative to getting the COVID-19 vaccine. In a state with the nation’s second lowest rate of vaccination against the coronavirus, a jump in the number of calls to poison control prompted an alert Friday from the Mississippi State Department of Health about ingesting the drug ivermectin. The department said that at least 70% of recent calls to the state poison control center were related to people who ingested a version of the drug that is formulated to treat parasites in cows and horses. Ingesting the drug can lead to a rash, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, neurologic disorders and potentially severe hepatitis requiring hospitalization, according to the alert written by Dr. Paul Byers, the state’s top epidemiologist.

I’m on two diets. I wasn’t getting enough food on one.
My wife asked me to take her to one of those restaurants where they make food right in front of you. I took her to Subway.
