How Low Can He Go — The Case History of Dale Watson

First, I want everyone to know these are my personal opinions.  No one associated with Boogie Woogie Marshall is aware I am writing this article.  I do hope everyone in Marshall, including people associated with Boggie Woogie, will read this article and future articles I plan to write on the subject. On 1 March 2024 I wrote the comments below after Mr. Watson threw a temper tantrum after hearing that he would be sharing the stage with Wes Jeans and Daryl Davis at the Boogie Woogie fundraiser. Mr. Watson announced he wanted nothing more to do with Boogie Woogie.

This was my response to hearing the news:

Wow! I can only think of a few reasons why Dale Watson was not willing to share the stage with two other talented performers. First, the stage is very small, Second, Mr. Watson has gained a lot of weight and his size requires him to have a stage for only his large body. Third, he is so insecure and ego-driven that he has to be the only performer. My bet is on number three.

In my opinion, Mr. Watson has never been a supporter of Woogie Boogie Marshall. In my opinion, Mr. Watson is one of those people whose only purpose in life to promote himself. I am sorry to see him go but he just does not appear to be a fit. 

The true supporters of Boogie Woogie Marshall need to prove to Mr. Watson that he is not needed to make Boogie Woogie Marshall a success or for him to be in Marshall for that matter. You can join the movement – the stage is big enough for everyone.

The 2024 Boogie Woogie Festival was a great success. There was only one dark cloud and Mr. Watson was at the center of that cloud.  This will be the subject of my next article.
