HELLO,
AUGUST 25 WAS THE WORST COVID DAY EVER FOR AREA G, AND IT WILL GET WORSE.
WE AREN’T VACCINATED OR CAREFUL ENOUGH AND THE TOWN IS WIDE OPEN.
NEXT THE DOCTORS WILL HAVE TO PICK AND CHOOSE WHO GETS THE VENTS.
I ANTICIPATE EVEN HIGHER COUNTS WHEN LGV AND TYLER REPORTS COME OUT LATER TODAY.
YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED. I AM.
NOTICE THAT HARRISON COUNTY HAS 87 NEW ACTIVE COVID CASES/100,000 POPULATION DAILY.
DALLAS HAS 46 NEW CASES DAILY/100,000- PEOPLE, OR ALMOST 50% FEWER CASES/100,000 POP. THAN WE DO.
OUR NEIGHBORING COUNTIES ARE ALSO IN TROUBLE.
Inside a Galveston ICU, young patients once considered safe from COVID now desperately cling to life
”…In Texas, COVID is infecting more people in their 30s than any other age group, with about 17,400 cases. People in their 20s are a close second, with about 15,900 cases….”
(J. Harris: Show this to your “know it all son-in-law.”
If I had little time and only one source of news, especially regarding Covid, I would listen to NPR Radio. It is also free unless you wish to contribute. (npr.org.news)
If I had only one print source for Covid news, it would be the New York Times which outstripes mere mortals in extensive and comprehensice coverage. (And Bubba and I don’t have to read the editorials.)
Cold, Flu and Other Viruses Are Airborne, Too
A LOOK AT QUARANTINE AND GOVERNMENTAL INVOLVEMENT WITH CONTAGIOUS DISEASE:
A brief history of quarantines in the United States
OUTLINE FROM WASHINGTON POST
‘’…The list of quarantinable diseases is contained in an Executive Order of the President… and includes cholera, diphtheria, infectious tuberculosis, plague, smallpox, yellow fever, viral hemorrhagic fevers(such as Marburg, Ebola, and Crimean-Congo), and severe acute respiratory syndromes.’’
…Many other illnesses of public health significance, such as measles, mumps, rubella, and chicken pox, are not contained in the list of quarantinable illnesses, but continue to pose a health risk to the public. Quarantine Station personnel respond to reports of ill travelers aboard airplanes, ships, and at land border crossings to make an assessment of the public health risk and initiate an appropriate response…’’
(J. Harris: Covid is certainly a “Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.” Perhaps it will take heightened FEDERAL awareness and enforcing FEDERAL laws to control this and future pandemics. Most STATES won’t and most COUNTIES AND CITIES can’t and/or won’t. I don’t know what most school districts and other schoold and universities will do. I do know that ETBU has a comprehesnive on-going Covid prevention and control program which they have followed succesfully since the Pandemic began. They have also helped immunize the area and continue to do so with FREE VACCINES.
FROM ETBU:
AND LAST BUT NOT LEASED:
There will most likely be a message from Milton the Tomato this weekend.
