J. Harris: All the hospital census counts are up. The hospitals in the Valley are said to be full up. Likely, counts will continue to go up; we’ll get a good count on Tuesday when the counters are back at work — then in two weeks, we’ll have another larger increase due to July 4 holiday carelessness. Maybe then the counts will go down until Labor Day. And then there’s winter. Wear your mask when out and about.

FROM JUDGE SIMS:
July 4, 2020 – 14 new cases and 4 recoveries to report today.
July 5, 2020 – 12 new cases to report today, all are from long-term care facilities.
Gregg County’s jump in COVID-19 cases continued Sunday as 12 more cases were reported, bringing the total to 465.
Elegant in theory, efficacious in the laboratory but untested in the real world, the possible RNA vaccines are especially attractive because they might be cheaper, easier and faster to manufacture on a massive scale — at least one team boasts it could partner with producers in developing countries to provide millions of vials for as little as $5 a pop
The leading American effort, an RNA vaccine being developed by the Massachusetts biotechnology company Moderna, went from a genetic sequence on a computer screen to a shot in the arm of a person in an unprecedented 66 days.
It’s hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally.

Thanks for your willingness to provide all the information that you have unselfishly given. All pandemics sooner or later just go away. Some times they are not too bad but frequently they are devestating. About once a century we have a biological, a geological, and a space event. These must be world wide and not localized. We of course need to be vigilant but not give way to panic and the hype associated with this pathogen may prove to ne worse than the pathogen itself. It is my hope that some type of vaccine will be made available to the genereal public in the next couple of years or so. Trying to “lock down” society for more than a couple of months will (and is) proving to be more unenforcable with each passing day. The governor is correct in saying the economy must be reopened regardless of the concequences else the economy will stall our causing the health care system to collapse. My greatest fear is just that. My degree field was biology/chemistry and my grad work was mostly econmics so I am looking at both sides of the question. I spent nearly a half century in this general field. Keep up the good work but be very careful about getting tunnel vison.
