Tidbits from the N Y Times Daily Briefing (a nice, quick way to scan the news)

*The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidelines on when and how essential employees can go back to work even if they have been exposed to infected people.
*“Specially in the U.S., any effect( decreased infections), even in the summer months, may not be highly visible, so our real chance to stop this virus is indeed through taking quarantine measures,” said Qasim Bukhari, a computational scientist at M.I.T.
*Pandemics do not behave the same way seasonal outbreaks do. For the National Academies’ report, researchers looked at the history of flu pandemics as an example. “There have been 10 influenza pandemics in the past 250-plus years — two started in the Northern Hemisphere winter, three in the spring, two in the summer and three in the fall,” the report said. “All had a peak second wave approximately six months after emergence of the virus in the human population, regardless of when the initial introduction occurred.”

Professor of Biology, Texas A&M University-TexarkanaThis is a nice virology description of the C-19 virus written by a Virologist from Texarkana. I am not familiar with the journal.
He also describes what happened in S. Korea:
“The Shincheonji Church outbreak in South Korea in February provides a good demonstration of how and how quickly SARS-CoV-2 spreads. It seems one or two people with the virus sat face to face very close to uninfected people for several minutes at a time in a crowded room. Within two weeks, several thousand people in the country were infected, and more than half of the infections at that point were attributable to the church.”
Why so many epidemics originate in Asia and Africa – and why we can expect more” — (same journal—good basic article)
